Take an improv class. No, seriously, this is probably one of the best things you can do to prepare yourself to become an English professor. Every day in the classroom is different. Some days your plan will work flawlessly; other days, you won't even like your plan. Be adaptable and willing to adjust. You never know what students will throw your way!
If you are uncomfortable with one-on-one tutoring, or are having trouble engaging in your sessions, consider small-group tutoring. Some people learn better in a multi-person environment where they can exchange ideas with their peers. Small groups offer you more of a “classroom” experience, while still giving you the personal attention that you might not get at school.
I started out simply attending SI for BIOS 110 as a freshman and loved it so much that I used it for as many courses as I could afterward! These also included my general Chemistry courses, CHEM 121 and CHEM 124. I started working at the Student Success Center as a tutor and SI instructor last summer. After almost a year of working, I have led SI sessions for BIOS 101, 110, and 120, and I have held study sessions for CHEM 124. Having gone through these courses myself and attended SI for my own benefit, I strongly encourage all to take advantage of the Student Success Center's services.

You will be given the chance to explore several examples of online resources via the activities and associated resources for the module. How to evaluate the effectiveness and appropriateness of resources you find online is also explored.
