This author has obviously done a few courses, but since the lack of editing reads like a first draft, this book was difficult to read. I read over half of the book before I could not take the constant affiliate links to his "how to" program, but when there were a dozen type o's in a row, I quit reading. Phil, I am sorry for my candor. I hope you edited your videos better than you edited your book. You could have had a really great book here, instead you have what seems like a half baked marketing tool to gain organic traffic to your courses so you can achieve a higher commission. (Instructors get higher commission for bringing in their own students - which is why he has a link to his course on every page)
Vikram worked with tutor Sandra for 2.5 years. She gave him the confidence to score straight As in math throughout his high school years. Even though at first Sandra was not teaching Precalculus, she was kind enough to take up the subject just for the sake of teaching Vikram. Such personal care and attention is rare to find these days! Thanks to Sandra for the care she showered on Vikram:-)
In college, grades DO matter. Study and take the challenging courses that will make you a well-rounded content empowered graduate. The practicums are all geared to make sure that teaching is your career choice. Make the most of every moment; try to tutor if your school has a free tutoring lab; it will make you practice your teaching skills. Most of all, teach from your heart and not from the book. Students will not remember what you said or did, but they will always remember how you made them feel.
Millions of children worldwide are still without an education, which may seem unbelievable considering the world we are living in today. The unfair distribution of resources has caused a massive gap between highly qualified individuals in developed countries and people in developing countries where children are unable to enjoy the fruits of a good education. The latter tend to remain in a vicious cycle they are unable to break out of without any external support.
Teaching online is not the only opportunity we have to offer. You can combine working as an online teacher with benefits of living in one of the world’s most exciting countries – China. You will become a part of a team of enthusiastic teachers, teaching online classes to our students from the very heart of Shanghai. As today's learners become more receptive to online interactive learning, e-learning represents a paradigm shift in delivering and acquiring knowledge. Participants will learn how to design, implement, assess and evaluate curriculum content and appropriate teaching methodology for the online classroom. Candidates will explore leading instructional technology tools, software, and web-based applications.
Without good English-language skills, students can’t succeed in English class, or any of their other classes. If you’re thinking of becoming an English teacher, you’ll find opportunities to teach all kinds of literary genres, including classic literary texts, creative nonfiction, contemporary fiction, film and web-based media. One week you may engage your students in a Shakespearean play and the next you might instruct them on argumentative essay writing.
Do not expect your students to be English majors. Understand that they don't all share the love of reading and writing and all things literary. If you understand that; if you meet them where THEY are (not where you expect or want them to be); if you are flexible with your time and your resources; and if the curriculum is not always the stuff the kids NEED to know, you'll be just fine. Also, keep granola bars in your desk drawer for the kids who didn't get breakfast (or for when you forget your lunch on the kitchen counter), let students stand up and move around a lot - literature is really, really boring for some (I know, weird, right?), and even honors students can try your patience daily.
Your tutor is more than willing to work through your homework with you, but remember that your time each session is limited. If you attempt your homework ahead of your appointment, your tutor can quickly review it to identify the areas where you need help. If you wait until your session to start it together, you could end up spending the entire session working through problems that you understand before you get to the ones you don’t.
Oh, the joys of college! The only time where being frequently intoxicated and poor is socially acceptable. Indeed, getting through college is challenging enough—trying to take on work on top of your academic endeavors can be overwhelming. Here are the best online jobs for college students so you’re able to afford those kegs of Pabst and double pepperoni hot pockets.
Our flagship program, which we launched in the late 1990's, our in-home tutoring option provides you with the unparalleled convenience and personalized attention of a private chemistry tutor who will work with your child right at your kitchen table. All lessons are one-to-one, and your instructor will ensure that each session is highly focused on your child’s unique needs.
When I finally realized that I was new and that no haircut or name change would fix that, I felt liberated. If you try to pressure yourself to be a veteran in the classroom on day 1, it will just add more stress than you need. Now, my students call me Alexia and know I've only been teaching for two years. I feel like it's helped facilitate a stronger bond in the classroom.
