For people looking for information on how to teach English online, the process can often be intimidating.  There are seemingly countless online teaching jobs out there with different rates of pay, requirements, and students.  While many schools and jobs are straightforward, we have received more than a few messages complaining about how the details seem to change from one job to the next.
The idea is to buy products directly from a manufacturer or wholesaler, then sell them online on Amazon. The most popular option is to use Amazon FBA, which handles all the warehousing and shipping (the “fulfillment”) for you. In fact, you can even have the manufacturer or distributor ship the products directly to Amazon, so that you never have to physically touch the items. 
Do not expect your students to be English majors. Understand that they don't all share the love of reading and writing and all things literary. If you understand that; if you meet them where THEY are (not where you expect or want them to be); if you are flexible with your time and your resources; and if the curriculum is not always the stuff the kids NEED to know, you'll be just fine. Also, keep granola bars in your desk drawer for the kids who didn't get breakfast (or for when you forget your lunch on the kitchen counter), let students stand up and move around a lot - literature is really, really boring for some (I know, weird, right?), and even honors students can try your patience daily.

I recently began working on my first online course and bought this to get some insight. However, I found it very disappointing. When you begin submitting material to Udemy you are paired with an advisor/judge who will approve or decline your course material for content, sound, and video quality. Most of what Phil Ebiner mentions here I learned from my Udemy administrator. So, once you begin you will get most of what he shares here for FREE and with much greater detail.

You start by listing your Gigs, which you fit into one of their many categories, and immediately can start selling. The categories include everything from Graphics & Design to Writing to Video to Music to Programming. It really spans the spectrum.

If that’s you, your first step to preparing is familiarizing yourself with the technology you need to instruct the class, including all the functions you may need and actions you’ll perform. Do you know how to present a slideshow? Share your screen? Transfer controls to a student who’s giving a presentation? That being said, there are still a few red flags when it comes to using technology for hire, and those are email or instant messaging. Any hiring manager or boss worth their salt is not going to conduct a job interview via instant message or email. Most often, you might be initially contacted by email, but after that, you should still have a phone or video interview—or both.
Hi, my name's Art, I started teaching ESL 34 years ago in Salamanca Spain, then continued part-time while also teaching Spanish as a graduate student at Johns Hopkins University where I received an M.A. in Hispanic Literature in 1988. I left another career about 7 years ago when my Venezuelan wife and I moved back to her home country, and there I also happily returned to my first career of teaching ESL. I began teaching there at the university level at the Universidad Arturo Michelena, but then realized I felt called to tutoring one student at a time. A few days ago, at the urging of the US embassy in Venezuela, my wife and I returned to the USA. The good news for students is that we have 100-122 Mega speed internet so the audio and video are of excellent quality! ---Many of my students were/are preparing for TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge, NATO, or Trinity exams etc. so I have experience helping there. I got to module 3 of 5 with the ICAL TEFL institute based in London for certification in TEFL, but then realized that those courses are aimed primarily at classroom teaching methods, and have little relevance to one-on-one tutoring. All is forgiven and Jason moves on to write further plays as Linda eases back into teaching and regaining her reputation. Sometime later, Linda runs into Jason's father at her favourite bookshop. They catch up over coffee and both realise they'd totally misread each other previously. Grateful for all Linda has done for his son, and pleasantly surprised they have much more in common than previously thought, Tom, in spite of any remaining awkwardness, invites Linda on a further proper date. She, somewhat hesitantly, accepts the invitation.

You will also select the level of education you want to complete. You may choose the minimum requirements, or consider a postgraduate degree. A higher degree could result in a higher starting salary. If this is your first college experience, it might be easier to stay in school for the additional time now, rather than going back at some time in the future.

It might sound obvious, but make sure you bring your textbooks, class notes, assignments, and anything else that will be useful during your sessions. If you don’t have the materials you need, your tutor will not be able to effectively teach you what you need to know. Save time by having them laid out, organized, and ready to go for your session. If your school utilizes a coursework website, send your tutor the link ahead of time (if possible) so they can see exactly what you’re working on for themselves.
