There are fewer opportunities to give feedback in an online classroom, so it's a good idea to provide feedback quickly when you can. It’s also a good idea to ask for feedback yourself on how students are doing and what they need more of, and pass that information onto course creators so that necessary changes can be made. It can be hard to anticipate just what the student experience will be like for online learners, so asking for input can go a long way in shaping great experiences for future students.
The time commitment for instructors varies, as new faculty come to the course with varying levels of familiarity using learning management systems (such as D2L’s Brightspace, Blackboard, Canvas or Moodle) and varying levels of classroom experience. Most trainees report that they spend between 7-12 hours per week on the course. This training is required for all new SNHU online adjunct faculty and is paid. I'm only a quarter into this book but felt compelled to put it down and leave a rave review. The book is top notch. So many ebooks nowadays seem to be thrown together to make a buck by someone who you can quickly tell has no actual experience. This book is the opposite of that - it's based on lots of excellent real life experience and it's chock-a-block full of how-tos, excellent resources, advice and more. As has been mentioned, the repeated attempts to sell his courses to the reader are unnecessary - really the author makes the case for his courses without any hard sell so needn't repeat it multiple times. And the formatting of images is wonky on my Kindle with the image overlaying the text in many places. Small quibbles though given the meaty content of this book. I'm bookmarking page after page and am delighted with my purchase. Highly recommended!

I am relatively new to tutoring here at LSUS, but I find it quite enjoyable. Every student is capable of doing well in their classes, but sometimes they just need a little push to understand everything. I am happy to help students realize what they are able to do and show them that they can conquer any course. Students often say they are weak in math or just don't get it, but I say they can solve the problems and so can you.

I have been tutoring with Louisiana State University Shreveport for one semester, but have been leading group study sessions since my freshmen year of college. I first encountered the Student Success Center in the fall of 2017 when I attended a Supplemental Instruction Session for Organic Chemistry I. I found the sessions so helpful in allowing me to further understand the difficult concepts of the course through metacognitive intervention that I attended every session after that. The results of attending those sessions reflected in my grades, and I passed the course with an A. Not only did I receive helpful instruction through the Student Success Center, my confidence in my academic ability grew as well. I wanted to offer this same helpfulness and confidence to my peers, so I sought to tutor for the Student Success Center to use the same learning strategies that helped me to help my peers.

Parents typically wish to book many months of lessons upfront. Though you set your own availability and schedule, teachers with consistent availability to teach in the same time slots week to week for several months will get the most bookings. This is based on the parents’ preference for the same teacher to instruct their child for the duration of their 5 month course. Earn a bachelor’s degree, such as a Bachelor of Arts degree in English (or a similar degree, such as English Composition or Creative Writing), or major in Education with a specialization in English. In addition to taking courses related to literature and writing, aspiring English teachers also study adolescent psychology and techniques in managing a high school classroom.

You will also select the level of education you want to complete. You may choose the minimum requirements, or consider a postgraduate degree. A higher degree could result in a higher starting salary. If this is your first college experience, it might be easier to stay in school for the additional time now, rather than going back at some time in the future.
