'Module 1: Why is Online Teaching Important' is about understanding where you are in the current educational landscape, and determining where you want to be. We will explore why online teaching is relevant to your teaching practice, and you’ll have an opportunity to reflect upon the opportunities and challenges you face in your own context. 'Module 2: Open and Institutionally Supported Technologies' focuses on helping you understand the benefits and restrictions of both broad categories of technologies. We’re all familiar with different social media technologies, and many of us will be aware of larger institutional online learning systems. In this module we will ask you to think about the reasons why you might want to use freely available online tools for your teaching - or your institution's learning management system. Important considerations such as which types of technologies are suitable for a range of different activities will also be explored.
These are not get-rich-quick opportunities. You will need to work but the potential is there. As an example, the second one on our list is freelance writing. If you're a good writer, you can hit the ground running and earn hundreds of dollars to write once you find the right clients. If you're not a good writer, you may get paid less as you get better and find more clients. The potential is there but so is the work.
We teach all subjects locally in Rocklin. We have college educated tutors who are trained in Common Core and who work face to face with students with a low 3:1 ratio or less, depending on availability, so you receive all the attention you deserve. We have programs in reading, writing, and math (all levels) and offer homework help in all subjects. Welcome to personal and professional help!
Now selling textbooks for fellow students is another story. You can easily make some extra money from each textbook sold (you set a percentage or set fee per book). As time allows, you can even scout online book prices and buy/sell during the prime textbook season (before the start of each new semester). You don’t have to limit yourself to locally supplied textbooks in this case.
Linda Sinclair (Julianne Moore) is a high school English teacher in the small town of Kingston, Pennsylvania. She is passionate about her subject and popular with her students, but lives alone in simple circumstances. Cursed with a hopeless romantic soul, she lives in a world of men unable to match her impossible standards. When her former star pupil Jason Sherwood (Michael Angarano) returns from New York, crushed and insecure after failing to succeed as a playwright, Linda convinces him to produce his play at the school, as the play is far too good to never reach a stage. Jason's overbearing father, Dr. Tom Sherwood (Greg Kinnear), pressures him to attend law school instead, which he finally relents to lest his ulcer be the end of him with no other prospects in sight. Complications arise after Linda and Jason, in a moment of impulsive creative madness, have a sexual encounter on her classroom desk. Various jealousies and rumours ensue, affecting her and everyone around her including the production of Jason's play. When the school heads are confronted with proof of her indiscretion with a former student, Linda is fired on the spot. Embarrassed and in erratic egress from the situation, Linda storms off, gets into a minor car collision, and ends up at an A&E where she's attended to by no other than Dr. Tom Sherwood. When she is moved by his gracious manner after having been mean to him on a previous occasion, she guiltily admits to having had sex with his son.
Some English teachers also teach journalism and yearbook courses, drama, public speaking, debate, and a variety of specialized writing classes that focus on magazine, fiction, early romantic, neoclassical or biographical writing. Regardless of their area of expertise, all English teachers are expected to have a firm grasp of vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure and written communication rules.
Before Growing Stars, I was getting 80-85% on Algebra II tests. I understood the concepts, but individual problems proved to be a challenge. My first test after starting sessions was an A, and I finished the year with a 96% average in the class. I will be continuing with their tutoring as long as I can, and am confident that they can help me attain the level of academic success I am aiming for.
Try to identify subjects, assignments, and tests that will require a tutoring session as early as possible. As the semester goes on, tutors get busier and their schedules get harder to coordinate. The best online services will still be able to find you a tutor on-demand, but there is no guarantee that your preferred tutor will be available if you wait until the last minute to book an appointment.
ESL online teaching jobs come with a flexible schedule and can be either full-time or part-time. So, while you will usually have the freedom to set your own working schedule, it is strongly recommended that you make yourself available for online English lessons during peak times (early morning, evenings and weekends for online ESL teachers based in the United States and Canada) as much as possible in order to maximize your earning potential.
Even spending a few hours a month on website maintenance for a small business can bring in a good amount of extra income and gives you the opportunity to make connections that might come in handy as references for future job applications. If you good at search engine optimization or affiliate marketing you can charge a pretty penny to help out with that as well.
Hi there! Please read on for some important information about booking, and about how I can help you... First things first: at the moment, I am working with students who are intermediate or above. If you're a beginner, unfortunately I'm not the best teacher for you right now. If you're interested in working with me, please book a 30-minute trial class first. Also, I would love to hear about your language goals (or anything else you think I should know), so feel free to send me a message when you book. I've been teaching English since 2005, and over the years I've helped hundreds of students build, improve, strengthen, and perfect their English language skills. I emphasize: critical thinking, a positive attitude, an open mind, risk taking, and curiosity. We focus on exactly what you need for your specific goals, and I don't waste your time on things that aren't practical. Finally, I take notes for you during class so you can relax and focus on speaking! These are NOT just quick notes in the chat screen: I offer all of my students a PDF document at the end of each session, which includes errors and corrections, vocabulary, and pronunciation notes from that class.
Whether you’re a stay-at-home mom who hasn’t done any office work in a while or you’re 18 and just started college, you may worry the work-at-home life isn’t for you. Not because you don’t have the time or the temperament. But because you’re worried you don’t have enough experience to land a work-from-home job or, if you do, that the work won’t be easy enough to slip in around a long day with the kids or all your classes.
The lesson material is uploaded into the online classroom for you, based on what the student is currently studying and his/her parent’s preference. You are able to preview the material prior to the lesson and then can use your own expertise to respond to the student’s individual learning needs to deliver the lesson. No mandatory teaching props or backdrops needed!
I have been teaching high school physics and general science for 11 years in Wilton, Simsbury, and now Redding. I also have experience tutoring students in chemistry, geometry, and pre-calculus. I love teaching high school and tutoring with me is often a combination of focused conversation and guided practice. I also focus on representing science and math visually, instead of just crunching through equations. Whether you have fallen behind in your class, or just want an edge keeping up, you can rely on my high school teaching experience to guide you through your science course. ... View Profile
Public schools are free for all students. By law, these schools are required to admit any student who lives in the district, as long as enrollment permits. With that said, public schools generally have a diverse student population with students of various ethnic backgrounds. Teachers in public schools must follow the curriculum that has been established by the local school district. Teachers must also administer the state standardized tests in order to measure school performance and student learning. The overall results of these tests may affect government funding. Prospective English teachers should apply to the district they wish to gain employment in.
Volunteers can have a huge impact on the children and students in these less fortunate areas and schools by exposing them to the English language. Creating fun exercises which will help with their pronunciation and conversation skills are a great start to increase their English language awareness. Volunteers can help support schools by contributing their time and offering their teaching skills. This way, students get the opportunity to learn English from fluent English speakers which will open doors that would otherwise remain closed.
Tutors are private teachers who work with students either one-on-one or in small groups outside of the regular school system to strengthen their understanding of course materials and help them succeed in their studies. They do so by teaching concepts, problem-solving methods, effective studying techniques, and test-taking strategies using methods best suited to each student’s individual learning style.

Check with your tech team to be sure you understand how to perform the basic functions of your class.

I actually consigned clothing for friends and family while in my freshman year of college and made some side cash with this legit online job. Smartphones were hardly popular 9 years ago, so it wasn’t the best option for my time vs. value. But today, it would be far simpler to snap pictures on your phone and list an item through an app in just a few minutes.
