As faculty, you have the option to incorporate supplementary reading materials in your class such as free online web sources and/or the Shapiro Library. Web based materials and resources can often add richness to your course and are free for the student. This is also a way for you, the adjunct faculty, to personalize your course and incorporate creativity.
'Module 1: Why is Online Teaching Important' is about understanding where you are in the current educational landscape, and determining where you want to be. We will explore why online teaching is relevant to your teaching practice, and you’ll have an opportunity to reflect upon the opportunities and challenges you face in your own context. 'Module 2: Open and Institutionally Supported Technologies' focuses on helping you understand the benefits and restrictions of both broad categories of technologies. We’re all familiar with different social media technologies, and many of us will be aware of larger institutional online learning systems. In this module we will ask you to think about the reasons why you might want to use freely available online tools for your teaching - or your institution's learning management system. Important considerations such as which types of technologies are suitable for a range of different activities will also be explored.
Chemistry is the study of the elements. The nuclear structure of elements is especially applicable in physical chemistry (quantum), but chemistry in a broader sense is (I think) usually more associated with the electronic structure of atoms. Energy conversions and exchange interactions between electrons within and among atoms describe chemical reactions, chemical properties, and much more.

If you only love your content, and not kids, DON'T do it. Frequently English majors love literature, or grammar, or writing, but they aren't passionate about helping kids. Don't let your NEED to cover content outweigh the real work of helping kids. Be prepared to feel tired and under appreciated, but know that one day, the least likely kid will come back and tell you that you are the reason they made it. That is why you teach.
So, I'm sitting here thinking, "I could be an online teacher" but wasn't sure where to get started. Read the reviews on this and a few others, and I definitely made the correct choice! Ebiner writes in a very clear, very direct manner. I could maybe do without the "action steps" at the end of each section, but I can definitely see where it would provide actionable steps for someone trying to figure out "what's next."
