“On my first exam in Orgo II, I got a 75% on the exam, which was below the mean.  After meeting with Robin, I ended up with an A on the next exam and the final exam, and overall I ended up with an A-.  I skyped Robin and went over all the questions I had.  She uses an amazing online tool to solve problems with me, and she then sent me all the notes.  Her thorough knowledge and her wonderful personality helped me to catch up and do well in this class!” Yolanda P., Cornell University

A note on tenure: For postsecondary teachers, a significant goal in the traditional academic career is attaining tenure — a guarantee that a professor cannot be fired without just cause. The tenure process can take up to seven years of moving up the ranks in tenure-track positions. The ranks are assistant professor, associate professor, and professor. Tenure is granted through a review of the candidate’s research, contribution to the institution, and teaching abilities. However, institutions are relying more heavily on limited-term and part-time faculty contracts.
So, I'm sitting here thinking, "I could be an online teacher" but wasn't sure where to get started. Read the reviews on this and a few others, and I definitely made the correct choice! Ebiner writes in a very clear, very direct manner. I could maybe do without the "action steps" at the end of each section, but I can definitely see where it would provide actionable steps for someone trying to figure out "what's next."
An online tutor can help alleviate this stress and provide expert knowledge in the subject. They also help your student get the right answers and develop a deep understanding of the optimum techniques and methods needed for solving problems. Plus, even when they aren’t with a tutor, the built-in tutorial videos available through our desktop/tablet tutoring app can answer your student’s questions on the spot.
In determining whether or not he should become a teacher, I once had a student ask me how much an English teacher makes. I explained to him that I teach for many reasons but money is not one of them. I then recommended that if he was going to decide on becoming a teacher depending on the pay, to find another career. I truly believe that the outcome of obtaining an English degree should be a better life. I don’t mean this from a financial viewpoint. Gaining an English degree is a privilege. It indicates that you appreciate life. You value your fellow human being. You cherish relationships over money. If I was looking to “get ahead,” gain as much wealth as possible, and live a quick-paced life, I would have decided to look into the majority of all other majors available. For me, it is important to slow down. It is important to listen to my breath. It is important to engage in quality conversation. My advice: don’t try to compete with business, engineering, or science majors. That is not you. Don’t try to make as much money as possible. You are the rarity in a fast-paced world. You are the glue that holds society together. Own it.
Time management: Whether you want a part-time or full-time online job, working from home can create a load of benefits especially for those with children at home. Managing your time may not always be an option at jobs where your physical presence is needed but online jobs can give you the added time to be at home while holding a full or part-time job.

The first step in becoming an English teacher is to complete an undergraduate degree. Prospective English teachers should obtain a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree, preferably in English. They will also need to complete a teacher-training program that specializes in English Language Arts. The teacher preparation program will include courses in classroom management, teaching strategies, assessment, and differentiated instruction. Candidates will also participate in student teaching experiences in real classrooms. For those who may have a Bachelor's Degree without a teacher training component, individual programs are available.
And, given the difficult nature of the sciences, it's not surprising that private tutoring can have a significant and measurable impact on your child's academic performance. Classroom teachers face the nearly impossible task of tailoring instruction to all of the students in the room. If your child is falling behind in that environment, what he or she needs is the personalized attention that his or her teacher likely can't provide.
Across the nation, English teachers on average make between$46,999 to $51,607 during the early stage of their career. On average, public school teachers can make up to $10,000 more per year than private school teachers. Generally, more experienced teachers can earn up to $10,000 than their initial salary, and English teachers with a Master's Degree in English or in Education can earn up to $5,000 more per year.

I was a Chemistry Peer Tutor at the College of Wooster, tutoring general chemistry and organic chemistry. My responsibilities and skills were as follows: - Worked individually with students to improve learning and understanding of general and organic chemistry -Provided students with effective study strategies and time management skills - Honed interpersonal and communication skills and modified tutoring methods to benefit each student s unique needs

Just as with live classrooms, you’ll want to know how many students you’ll be teaching, as it will affect the types of lessons and assessments you’ll conduct. For example, short answer or essay tests may be challenging to grade with large classes, but technology can make things like multiple choice exams even easier to grade than in a brick-and-mortar classroom.
During this harsh economic time, searching for jobs can be a very stressful experience. While companies and corporations are laying off a massive amount of individuals and smaller companies are struggling to keep their existing employees, job opportunities have declined massively to the point where people often have no other choice but to stay at home. So, this brings forth the dreaded question, what kind of options do I have during this tough time?
While a teacher’s job is to correct homework and in-class assignments, their time tends to be very limited when they’re grading hundreds of papers a day. Teachers tend to scribble down a few notes here and there just to get the grades in the book. With a private chemistry tutor, you have a second pair of eyes to review and break down the missed questions more clearly.  This leaves room for immediate feedback and a better explanation of why a question was missed. Teachers in high school classrooms are taught to teach to the middle of the class, meaning that the students who are behind miss out on key foundational points, and those who are ahead are left bored. A one-on-one chemistry tutor is there to teach right at your student’s level. They will create a lesson plan that revolves entirely on your child learning this material the right way. Our tutors want to teach your child good habits so that they are not making any mistakes that will come back to hurt them in the long run.

I love to be helpful to people, and I love to help students improve their performance in classes and on tests. I have an excellent track record of strong performances in graded classes and on standardized tests. I am confident that I can help any student take their performance to the next level in any of several academic subject areas, especially math and chemistry, and on standardized tests.... I learn first. That is, I learn a student's learning style and barriers to improved performance. Then, I cater my approach to that learning style and offer ways to overcome those barriers.

Princeton’s initiative in online education seeks to apply the lessons from decades of empirical research that has consistently established correlations between high student engagement and academic success. How can new online course environments and tools be used to create opportunities for heightening the interaction between faculty and their students in both online and classroom environments? What new forms of evidence do online learning tools produce that can help us study and identify effective strategies for teaching and learning?

Consider seeking out fellow students who could use a proofreader before submitting their next paper. Keep in mind that proofreading is far less “hands-on” than editing. You would not be making extensive corrections to other students’ papers for them, but rather becoming the second set of eyes to point out errors or inconsistencies in their assignment before it goes in for official grading.

Anyhow, my goal is to make your English much better in a quick, fun and easy way whatever your objective! I’ve been the main reason why students from countries such as France, Spain, Saudi Arabia, China, Peru, Ecuador or Switzerland have achieved and surpassed their English goals. In addition, I’ve had students stay with me for a week in England so they can change their lives for ever in terms of their English ability. Furthermore, I actually personally visit some clients if I am in their country. These students typically invite me to dinner, let me stay at their house or show their city to me in exchange for free English. They even let me visit with my wife! I guess I must be doing something good for them to do this! I understand my income and my family depends on the quality of the classes I offer so my commitment is to be better than any teacher you’ve had before and always look to improve my service to you. Awesome!!!" Montse Sandoval, Barcelona, España "I am grateful for having done an English online course with Mark and I totally recommend him. Today my English is a lot more fluent and I have certainly noted a big difference in my communication when I am abroad. One of the main qualities of my native teacher was the personal focus and Mark definitely knew what we had to concentrate on so I could make big progress in little time" Maite Gonzalez, Madrid, Spain Please note, I don´t teach beginner levels (A1-A2). I do pre-intermediate or above (B1, B2, C1, C2).

Online teaching requires special considerations. You may find that much of what you’re used to telling students verbally now needs to be translated into text. You’ll also want to know what technology options are available to make sure you’re taking advantage of your options: Are timed quizzes available? Does your learning management system (LMS) allow links to YouTube? Can students video themselves answering discussion questions, or does their homework have to be written? Beyond knowing the ins and outs of the LMS you'll be using, here are some ways to ensure a successful adaption of your curriculum:

In conclusion, please note that survey sites are another great source for extra cash paid regularly. There aren't exactly online jobs that pay weekly, but you can only get paid as often as you have money pending. Even though the cash out threshold is low on these, you won't be able to cash out if you aren't getting survey invites and qualifying into the surveys. But if you have money in your account, the potential is there to get the money almost as soon as you need it.

The overall salaries of English teachers are ultimately affected by their level of experience and education; years spent teaching full-time; and their geographic location. For instance, the BLS identifies the following states (with annual mean salaries) as being the top-paying locations for postsecondary English and literature teachers: New York ($89,670), Alaska ($87,200), California ($85,920), New Hampshire ($77,080), and Connecticut ($75,990).
We wanted to take a minute to let you know that the help that Aanya got from Ms. Meena made a huge difference in Aanya’s grasp of the concepts. Given that it was practically a full year’s worth of course content that was covered in just over 5 weeks, it is quite a remarkable achievement. Ms. Meena adjusted the pace very well to fit in the very short timeframe emphasizing just the right areas so that Aanya could grasp the most important concepts. We would like to thank Ms. Meena for helping Aanya secure an A grade in part 2. One can only imagine that if this course was stretched out for the full school year, how that help would have completely solidified the understanding of this important High School Math subject. So if I were to rate Ms. Meena, I will happily give her 5 stars. Aanya agrees. A big thank you to Ms. Meena!
Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree or higher in any field. A diploma or official transcripts noting a conferred bachelor’s degree must be submitted before your contract can be finalized. Feel free to apply without these docs if you need a few extra days to obtain them from your college, but college credits or a bachelor’s in progress is not sufficient. We'd love to talk to you once you've completed your degree.

As much as it pains me to write this, my advice is to find a different career. It's not that being a professor is so bad--there are many good things about the job, including a certain amount of flexibility of schedule and the experience of going to work and learning alongside colleagues and students each day--but the job market is just. so. bad. Odds are that you will labor for 6 years to obtain a PhD in English, all the while earning very little money and going into debt, and when you graduate you will be unable to get a tenure-line job--even if you are a gifted teacher, even if you are a talented writer, even if you are a superstar. If you do get a tenure-line job you will find yourself working long hours but earning far less money than do others with advanced degrees, and you will find that the realities of the profession are out of line with what you imagine the profession to be. I once believed that I would have the leisure to think and to write--that's what professors do, right? Not so much. When I was much younger I even imagined that I would spend some time each day sitting under a tree and reading a book. I'm serious! I thought that. My life bears zero resemblance to the fantasy. The ground under the trees is always a little wet, and there's too much of a glare on my laptop to work outside.
You may have to release your inner entrepreneur to make this one happen, but it can be lucrative if you have an eye for an online bargain. Sites like Flippa.com list websites and domains for sale. You might be able to pick up a domain for $10 and sell it for $1,000. Or you might be able to buy an inactive website for $1,000, reactivate it, and sell it for $10,000.
Place of employment has a profound effect on the salary that an English teacher earns, as jobs associated with higher education tend to pay more. However, unlike other teaching professions, top-paying employment opportunities for postsecondary English teachers are not found at colleges, universities and professional schools, but instead at junior colleges, where professors earned an annual mean wage of $69,110 compared to the $68,580 earned at colleges and universities in 2014.
There are a variety of names used for the exams, but the most common are: The National Evaluation Series (NES) and Praxis. One section covers your basic skills in writing, math, and reading. The next section will cover your content knowledge in English Language Arts (if you will teach secondary school) or elementary education (if you will teach younger students).
