After being out of the education field for eleven years to raise my four children, I was looking for a job that would give me at-home flexibility while allowing me to use my talents and training as a teacher. I found my new job within three days of signing up with FlexJobs, and it has been exactly what I had hoped for. I now teach children online in China before my children are awake with a beautiful added bonus–I get to do it in my PJs! I am so pleased with my FlexJobs experience! Thank you!
Try to identify subjects, assignments, and tests that will require a tutoring session as early as possible. As the semester goes on, tutors get busier and their schedules get harder to coordinate. The best online services will still be able to find you a tutor on-demand, but there is no guarantee that your preferred tutor will be available if you wait until the last minute to book an appointment.
I am orgionally from Southern Nh and graduated from Syracuse University in three years with my bachelors degree in 2012. Throughout college, I tutored mostly math, and decided I really liked teaching. After college, I moved down to Fort Worth and became certified as a teacher through TNTP, an excellent program that trains its students to teach specifically in low-income, inner city schools. I began teaching at a middle school in Fort Worth ISD, but decided to move to a high school in Inner-city Dallas my second and third year, because I felt I was more needed in that area than the school I was at. This past year, I moved back to southern Nh a ... View Profile
ESL online teaching jobs come with a flexible schedule and can be either full-time or part-time. So, while you will usually have the freedom to set your own working schedule, it is strongly recommended that you make yourself available for online English lessons during peak times (early morning, evenings and weekends for online ESL teachers based in the United States and Canada) as much as possible in order to maximize your earning potential.
Prospective English teachers must possess a solid understanding of pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, and sentence structure. They should be able to assess and evaluate student progress effectively. In addition, English teachers should be able to use various instructional strategies to meet the needs of all students. Prospective English teachers should have excellent communication skills so they can engage their class effectively and communicate well with parents, colleagues, and school administrators.

Some special needs students can really benefit from online tutoring because it takes place in a familiar setting. It can take a lot of time for some children to open up to a new teacher, and being in an environment they’re already comfortable with can expedite the process. That means some students will find it easier to hit the ground running with their new tutor.

What It Is: Many companies pay online testers to make sure websites are intuitive and easy to navigate. "You basically follow the instructions you're given to check out the website," says Anna Thurman, founder of RealWaysToEarnMoneyOnline.com, a site that has reviewed more than 500 online work opportunities. "It usually only takes about 15 minutes per test." Thurman recommends registering with 10 to 12 different companies since the opportunities to test these sites are doled out first come, first served. "There are people who make $100 to $200 a month by staying on top of those tests," Thurman says.

Linda Sinclair (Julianne Moore) is a high school English teacher in the small town of Kingston, Pennsylvania. She is passionate about her subject and popular with her students, but lives alone in simple circumstances. Cursed with a hopeless romantic soul, she lives in a world of men unable to match her impossible standards. When her former star pupil Jason Sherwood (Michael Angarano) returns from New York, crushed and insecure after failing to succeed as a playwright, Linda convinces him to produce his play at the school, as the play is far too good to never reach a stage. Jason's overbearing father, Dr. Tom Sherwood (Greg Kinnear), pressures him to attend law school instead, which he finally relents to lest his ulcer be the end of him with no other prospects in sight. Complications arise after Linda and Jason, in a moment of impulsive creative madness, have a sexual encounter on her classroom desk. Various jealousies and rumours ensue, affecting her and everyone around her including the production of Jason's play. When the school heads are confronted with proof of her indiscretion with a former student, Linda is fired on the spot. Embarrassed and in erratic egress from the situation, Linda storms off, gets into a minor car collision, and ends up at an A&E where she's attended to by no other than Dr. Tom Sherwood. When she is moved by his gracious manner after having been mean to him on a previous occasion, she guiltily admits to having had sex with his son.

These terms are essentially interchangeable in the international English teaching market, our certifications list both terms.
I actually consigned clothing for friends and family while in my freshman year of college and made some side cash with this legit online job. Smartphones were hardly popular 9 years ago, so it wasn’t the best option for my time vs. value. But today, it would be far simpler to snap pictures on your phone and list an item through an app in just a few minutes.
This course will guide you through your journey of understanding how online technologies can enhance your course design. You will have the opportunity to develop your understanding of effective online teaching practices and their relationship to the use of different technologies. You will also be encouraged to progressively design and reflect upon your own online learning activity, assessment or resource for use in your own class if you choose to undertake the course assignments.

A word of caution: Remember that where very little is required, very little is offered. These jobs don’t pay much, and they are not going to provide a reference for your resume. It may take working at several different of these online jobs to pull in the income you want. And as always, know the signs of a work-at-home scam as you sort through the opportunities.

Have lots opinions on what works and what doesn't on the web? Then you might just be right for a "career" in remote usability testing. Actually, no one really makes a career at it, but user testers can pick up some extra work reviewing websites or mobile applications that may still be in development. You don't even necessarily have to be very knowledgeable about the Internet because some developers want the beginner's point of view.
If you are searching for work in a special area – such as teaching Christian education online or designing courses for special education populations – create a free ad for yourself to run on the Available Online Teacher and Instructor Listings. Higher ed recruiters scan these listings for qualified professionals when they have new or pressing online teaching job openings to fill.
User testing is another one of those prime easy remote jobs! All you have to do is look at a website or mobile app, complete an activity as requested or just look around, and then give your thoughts on the website or app. Sometimes, your screen will be recorded while you complete the test and speak your thoughts out loud. Other times, you may be asked to write out your brief thoughts. Either way, the only real technical requirements are to have a home computer (that you can install the screen recording software on) and high-speed Internet access or particular type of smartphone.

Most states require at least a bachelor’s degree when you first seek a state certification or license. Each state will have a list of accredited institutions that are qualified to award a degree appropriate for licensing. As you look through your choice of schools, you will want to cross reference them with the State Board of Education’s approved list of schools (completing a degree program that isn’t accredited can result in disqualification for licensing).

Hi there! Please read on for some important information about booking, and about how I can help you... First things first: at the moment, I am working with students who are intermediate or above. If you're a beginner, unfortunately I'm not the best teacher for you right now. If you're interested in working with me, please book a 30-minute trial class first. Also, I would love to hear about your language goals (or anything else you think I should know), so feel free to send me a message when you book. I've been teaching English since 2005, and over the years I've helped hundreds of students build, improve, strengthen, and perfect their English language skills. I emphasize: critical thinking, a positive attitude, an open mind, risk taking, and curiosity. We focus on exactly what you need for your specific goals, and I don't waste your time on things that aren't practical. Finally, I take notes for you during class so you can relax and focus on speaking! These are NOT just quick notes in the chat screen: I offer all of my students a PDF document at the end of each session, which includes errors and corrections, vocabulary, and pronunciation notes from that class.

There are a variety of names used for the exams, but the most common are: The National Evaluation Series (NES) and Praxis. One section covers your basic skills in writing, math, and reading. The next section will cover your content knowledge in English Language Arts (if you will teach secondary school) or elementary education (if you will teach younger students).

Qualified candidates have typically completed several years of graduate-level coursework in literature, completed one or more field exams in an area of specialization (such as renaissance poetry, medieval literature, or the 19th-century American novel), and have written a dissertation on a topic related to their area of specialization.

Hi there! Quentin, 27, I live in Montreal - French native. I'd say I have an advanced level in English - I spend roughly 70% of my time talking in English. I'm looking for some lessons/tips/guidance from a native speaker - from UK/US preferably (but I'm open to anything!) - to get me towards the "100% fluent" mark. This wouldn't be meant specifically from a business / career perspective, but more for things like: - Accents: I'd like to understand...
“When I resigned as Director of the Heritage Project, I faced a choice: whether to go back into school administration or back into the classroom. The only job I ended up applying for is the teaching job I have now. I love spending my time thinking about the things that really matter by re-reading great literature daily, and it’s impossible not to love young people. Trying to show them the best ways into life — what else is there?”
High school English teachers are charged with preparing students for the college and this means, they are not only expected to introduce students to a range of literary traditions but also ensure that students have the reading comprehension and writing skills required to pass college admissions tests, such as the SAT, as well as succeed at the post-secondary level.
The Chronicle, oddly enough, offers no simple way to narrow a career or job search to “remote” or “online only” jobs. The Chronicle was founded in 1966 and still operates a hefty paper subscription model. The lack of a “remote” or “online learning” job qualifiers reflects a time not-so-long-ago when higher education gigs where all desk jobs, located deep inside the Ivory Tower.
Depending on the program you’re working with and the system they have in place, you may have resources available to you for adapting your in-classroom material to an online environment. You may be asked to divide what you’d normally teach in daily hour-long classes into 10 or 12 1.5-hour live sessions with about 20 minutes of “asynchronous” material (i.e., learning materials your students engage with on their own time, like homework).

Answer: Teachers in public schools must typically hold state certification and subject area endorsements in English language and literature. Many states offer alternative pathways to certification for career switchers or those who hold a bachelor’s degree that did not include coursework in teaching. Your state Board of Education or college program can provide further details on certification requirements specific to your state. You can also check out our traditional certification and alternative certification guides.

“Robin was extremely concerned with student learning and wanted to make sure that we understood what she was going over. She also made sure to point out things that could possibly trick us so that we could pay particular attention to them. She reiterated what was said in class and worked out examples so that we could apply it to our practice problems and exam questions.” – Rachel F., UCLA
What It Is: Companies like Google and Yahoo give you information to search for, and you tell them how closely their results matched what you were looking for. Does a search for Lady Antebellum turn up sites about the music group or links to pre-Civil War period information? If you are Latina, for example, you might be asked to search the way a Spanish speaker might perform a search in English.
When hiring an English teacher at the elementary level, schools typically require a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. To teach at the secondary level, a bachelor’s degree in secondary education or in English with an education minor is a common requirement. Most colleges require post-baccalaureate degrees in English, like a master’s degree or PhD. Prospective teachers who intend to teach K-12 classes with non-native English speaking students may find it beneficial to earn a degree in teaching English as a second language.

I mainly reviewed important general chem topics that pertain to organic chemistry that I will have to take in sophomore year of college and Dr.H has done a nice job teaching and relating critical general chem topics to organic chemistry. He gave a lot of organic chemistry examples as it relate to general chem topics being covered as well as providing practical applications of some of the topics. Dr.H was always punctual and has been a reliable teacher.
The job of an English teacher requires a deep understanding of sentence structure, grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and literature. It encompasses teaching creative composition such as prose, poetry, short stories, and narratives as well as technical writing skills which include news articles, reports, journals, and essays. A teacher of English should develop students’ oral and written communication skills, including critical thinking, oral and written comprehension, and problem-solving skills. English teachers are responsible for planning lessons that fit into a school’s approved curriculum and supporting student learning to state standards.
Because the fee is so small but the task takes so little time, the strategy is to do as many of them as possible. However, be sure to read the fine print because many of these companies have a minimum payout, meaning that if you earn $8.55 doing 20 micro jobs, you may have to wait until you’ve earned as much as $50 to actually get your money. Read more about some of the pitfalls of this kind of work.
I just wanted to let you know that I have been hired by Maritz (Thank you Annie) and working with them for almost 30 days now (perfect attendance gets you a $.25 raise after 30 days too). The company has us calling customers from different businesses (banks, insurance co. etc..) and asking them to please complete a survey of how their customer service experience was between 1 (poor) and 10 (excellent). They pay you the minimum wage of your state weekly by direct deposit and pay on time. The staff is great and helpful and they make the job easy and enjoyable. Thanks again Annie and bless you for all your great and helpful information that you share with us.

Charter schools require no tuition, and are run more independently than public schools. Charter schools have more flexibility in regards to their operations because they are held at a higher accountability for performance. Each school has established a "charter" that acts as the school's contract. The charter states the school's mission, vision, and performance goals. The petition also details the school's curricular program as well as the methods of assessment. Charter schools are usually smaller, more selective, and may have additional requirements for their English teachers.

I am Ph. D in organic chemistry from University of Houston and currently I am faculty at Houston Community College (HCC) and Lone Star College. I also teach chemistry for MCAT and PCAT exams. These little jobs are done by people who log on to a company’s site and choose tasks, which could be as simple as clicking a link. Amazon's Mechanical Turk is one of the most well-known sites of this type. Also, there are crowdsourcing projects, which are similar to data entry, where companies engage an army of virtual workers to each do one small part of a larger project.
...I find it to be the most interesting science because it deals with life and how living things function (my goal is to go to medical school, so I have a great deal of interest in living things). I like to incorporate real life examples as well as demonstrations into my tutoring to help students better grasp concepts, especially ones that are more abstract (for example, using the analogy of water slides to explain flow...

Not everyone can teach, no matter how knowledgeable he or she is in any subject. I began teaching Grammar, and quickly learned the text the students were made to buy was extremely puzzling...so I made up my own weekly Grammar Packages. Then I started teaching Composition 101 and learned that the most difficult task for students is focus...working on this alone helped many of my students. Later I taught Intro to Literature. This became a passion of mine because I had to allow for many different insights to a poem or story. Keeping in mind that another won't quite reach the same conclusion to Literary Writings made teaching this subject very successful for me.

I have been tutoring with Louisiana State University Shreveport for one semester, but have been leading group study sessions since my freshmen year of college. I first encountered the Student Success Center in the fall of 2017 when I attended a Supplemental Instruction Session for Organic Chemistry I. I found the sessions so helpful in allowing me to further understand the difficult concepts of the course through metacognitive intervention that I attended every session after that. The results of attending those sessions reflected in my grades, and I passed the course with an A. Not only did I receive helpful instruction through the Student Success Center, my confidence in my academic ability grew as well. I wanted to offer this same helpfulness and confidence to my peers, so I sought to tutor for the Student Success Center to use the same learning strategies that helped me to help my peers.

If you're considering graduate school and teaching on the college level, understand that you HAVE to love what you do. You will have to start as an adjunct and work several part time jobs to make ends meet, but if you really love the work, you won't mind doing it. In these beginning years, you have to really work to find that work/life balance. I often have to tell students if I'm going away for the weekend and won't be able to keep to my 24-hour response promise. I do take one or two weekend getaways each semester to keep myself sane :) If you love it, it really won't feel like work!

When I finally realized that I was new and that no haircut or name change would fix that, I felt liberated. If you try to pressure yourself to be a veteran in the classroom on day 1, it will just add more stress than you need. Now, my students call me Alexia and know I've only been teaching for two years. I feel like it's helped facilitate a stronger bond in the classroom.

Take your school career seriously! From the freshman year onward, work hard to become the best reader and writer that you can be. Take advantage of every opportunity to challenge yourself as a learner, take AP classes if available, take online or blended learning classes if available. Use summers to get ahead on your reading and check for the required reading list for all college-bound students. Visit teachers' rooms to see different teaching styles, and remember the great and not so great teachers you have had. You will remember behaviors you want to emulate and those you want to avoid.

There are various online education companies out there that connect remote English teachers with Chinese students. The majority of the online English teaching platforms currently operating provide online ESL teachers with curricula, course materials and teaching resources developed internally, which means that you won’t need to spend additional time grading students or planning lessons in advance.

They will take into account the way your child learns, what the teacher is asking of them and what their struggles are in the class. From there your tutor has the perfect recipe to create a plan that will equal your student's success. This type of attention is implausible in the typical classroom setting as there are several other students who all have their own concerns with the materials. To be in college taking your first chemistry class is going to be challenging. This is because of the transition period that exists with subject material such as chemistry. Things are going to heat up quite a bit and you are going to need to be prepared. If you really want to succeed in this class then you need to work with one of our tutors. They have all been in college and know what it is like dealing with chemistry.

Many times, both parents come home from a full day of work and then need to juggle the responsibilities of managing their children, participating in social events, attending athletic practices and much more. It’s also possible that one or both parents did not take advanced math in school. So, whether the curriculum has changed or there simply aren’t enough hours in the day, parents can find it difficult to give their children the help they need to excel in math.
