Parents typically wish to book many months of lessons upfront. Though you set your own availability and schedule, teachers with consistent availability to teach in the same time slots week to week for several months will get the most bookings. This is based on the parents’ preference for the same teacher to instruct their child for the duration of their 5 month course. If teachers continue to be available thereafter, some parents may even wish to book him or her for an additional 5 months for their child’s second course. We offer supplemental fees for repeat bookings, usually a fee of $1.00 per hour ($.50 per class) when you teach the same student each week.
University English professors must hold a PhD in English and in rare cases, may possess a PhD in a related field, such as comparative literature. Qualified candidates have typically completed several years of graduate-level coursework in literature, completed one or more field exams in an area of specialization (such as renaissance poetry, medieval literature, or the 19th-century American novel), and have written a dissertation on a topic related to their area of specialization.

High school English teachers are responsible for covering more specific and in-depth subjects than their middle school colleagues. In ninth grade, English teachers continue to focus on grammar rules, sentence structure and expository writing techniques. They also introduce students to sophisticated reading materials and more expansive writing assignments, like research papers.
While there are some exceptions, at most universities (especially larger ones), English professors are hired to teach within a specific field, as seen in the professor hired as an expert on Victorian literature, British Drama or 20th-21st-century American Fiction. In addition to teaching courses in their area of specialization, qualified professors are expected to supervise graduate students (who typically share their research interest), participate in the governance of their department and university (such as serving on committees), and to publish articles and books in recognized journals in their field, such as the PMLA.
All professors have office hours, and online instructors are no exception. Make sure you know how to help students reach you. Hosting a Google Hangout at the same time every week? Scheduling phone calls as needed? Staying after class with students who have questions? Find out if your program has a policy, or if it’s OK for you to develop your own system for student check-ins.
There are fewer opportunities to give feedback in an online classroom, so it's a good idea to provide feedback quickly when you can. It’s also a good idea to ask for feedback yourself on how students are doing and what they need more of, and pass that information onto course creators so that necessary changes can be made. It can be hard to anticipate just what the student experience will be like for online learners, so asking for input can go a long way in shaping great experiences for future students.

What It Pays: Payment depends on how many people click on your video and how many subscribers. Views on popular YouTube tutorials range from 20,000 to 300,000 and higher. You can also earn money from sponsorships, ranging from $500 to hundred of thousands, according to Slate. In 2017, Daily Star reported that UK vlogger Zoella made £50,000 a month from her videos showing her shopping hauls, though, with over 16 million subscribers, her estimated net worth is £4m net worth.
Consider seeking out fellow students who could use a proofreader before submitting their next paper. Keep in mind that proofreading is far less “hands-on” than editing. You would not be making extensive corrections to other students’ papers for them, but rather becoming the second set of eyes to point out errors or inconsistencies in their assignment before it goes in for official grading.
Over the last few years online tutoring sites have really boosted in popularity. The reason for this is people just don't have the time or the money to spend at an actual tutoring center. Online Tutoring is an ideal solution, as it can be done at home on a computer or mobile device and is usually a much cheaper alternative. Also, online tutoring/teaching is a nice way for educators to earn some extra money doing what they love from the comfort of their own home, setting their own schedule. Plus, students love the ability to view and choose courses that work for them.

“My students write passion blogs, go on Instagram sensory walks, engage in both synchronous and asynchronous discussions about literature, annotate digitally online, and create multimedia digital portfolios to share with the world! I feel fortunate to teach at a time when there is so much information right at our fingertips and so many new approaches to teaching.”

I know what you're thinking, but it's true – teaching English online absolutely belongs on a list of easy online jobs. This is because your students are using your native speaking performance as a basic lesson itself and any more formal lesson is layered on top of that.

To become an online teacher, you need at least a bachelor’s degree in education, or the subject you wish to teach. For example, chemistry teachers should have a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. Many teachers pursue a master's degree or doctorate which makes them eligible for administrative positions. Online teachers who work with public school programs also need a teaching license or certificate, which may entail more coursework and the passing of a certification exam. State requirements vary, so research the qualifications where you live. Private schools and educational organizations may not need a teaching license, but having one may increase your chances in the job market. Some online teachers first gain experience in the classroom or by tutoring students to develop teaching techniques before seeking online teaching positions.
You will also select the level of education you want to complete. You may choose the minimum requirements, or consider a postgraduate degree. A higher degree could result in a higher starting salary. If this is your first college experience, it might be easier to stay in school for the additional time now, rather than going back at some time in the future.
Good programs understand this and provide their own tech support staff. This resource is also available to professors, who will want immediate help should their PowerPoint presentations crash during class time. Removing this burden from teachers allows them to focus on their lessons, while students can rest easy knowing there’s help for any issues they may encounter.

Private schools are independent of the government as they do not receive federal funding. Unlike public schools, tuition is required for a student to attend a private school. Private schools are run by their own school boards or organizations. For that reason, private schools are able to create their own standards for students and teachers. Although many private school teachers are not required to hold state certification, many schools insist they do. In addition, some private schools have religious affiliations and educate students based on their specific beliefs. For specific requirements in regards to teaching English at a private school check, with the school you wish to teach in.

A two-year college English professor may spend their time offering basic writing courses, business writing courses, or courses for students enrolled in applied degree programs (for example, Writing for Nurses or Writing for Engineers). Professors may also teach entry-level courses to students that enter college with a requirement to pass an introductory course in English, based on previous low-ranking test scores.

There are different levels of Online Teaching jobs. Many companies employ online tutors to help students from grade school to college understand their school assignments and study for their tests. Tutors are responsible for finding strategies to help improve student understanding, maintaining a regular schedule and communicating with families and administrators. Both colleges and high schools employ online instructors as well. Online high school teachers and professors are tasked with learning or designing curriculum, developing lesson plans, accommodating students with varied learning abilities, tracking and improving student attendance and progress, administering and grading exams, providing academic advice and communicating with students, parents and administrators. Another quickly growing teaching position is the role of a Tes Teacher.

Because an LMS is also used for live sessions, a good learning management system is key to making things easy for the professor, who will need to quickly and clearly share media without too many technical issues. Students, too, will want a simple, reliable system for contributing their own notes, discussion threads, and most importantly, tests and assignments.
Hi there! Please read on for some important information about booking, and about how I can help you... First things first: at the moment, I am working with students who are intermediate or above. If you're a beginner, unfortunately I'm not the best teacher for you right now. If you're interested in working with me, please book a 30-minute trial class first. Also, I would love to hear about your language goals (or anything else you think I should know), so feel free to send me a message when you book. I've been teaching English since 2005, and over the years I've helped hundreds of students build, improve, strengthen, and perfect their English language skills. I emphasize: critical thinking, a positive attitude, an open mind, risk taking, and curiosity. We focus on exactly what you need for your specific goals, and I don't waste your time on things that aren't practical. Finally, I take notes for you during class so you can relax and focus on speaking! These are NOT just quick notes in the chat screen: I offer all of my students a PDF document at the end of each session, which includes errors and corrections, vocabulary, and pronunciation notes from that class.
