The time that it takes to complete the process varies from state to state. It can also vary depending on the time of the year. Some states have a shorter window for processing during the off-season when they aren’t as busy. One way to streamline the process is to know how soon you can accomplish each step in the licensing process. For instance, it may take weeks for a completed background check. This may be something to complete as soon as you are able to. Sending for official transcripts and test scores as soon as they are available will also save you time.

The job of an English teacher requires a deep understanding of sentence structure, grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and literature. It encompasses teaching creative composition such as prose, poetry, short stories, and narratives as well as technical writing skills which include news articles, reports, journals, and essays. A teacher of English should develop students’ oral and written communication skills, including critical thinking, oral and written comprehension, and problem-solving skills. English teachers are responsible for planning lessons that fit into a school’s approved curriculum and supporting student learning to state standards.

Wow! This is a tough one. Honestly, don't do it if you cannot stand kids/young adults. Don't think that a high school class is going to be anything like your LIT 451 class - you know, where all 15 of you sit down with the professor and discuss Frankenstein through a Freudian lens. Don't think that all your kids are going to like reading Jane Eyre because you like it. Know that parents are going to blame you for every horrid grade/missing assignment. Know that when you finally get used to one lesson plan format or standardized test, that the state will change it and you'll have to learn something new. Understand, quickly, that the bad days will probably outweigh the good ones, but that it only takes one student to grow to love reading to make you feel accomplished and appreciated. Understand that students rarely will understand why they have to read classics and why your class is important when they know they want to major in Biology, but that in a few years one of them will send you a letter in the mail thanking you for all you did for them.
“My students write passion blogs, go on Instagram sensory walks, engage in both synchronous and asynchronous discussions about literature, annotate digitally online, and create multimedia digital portfolios to share with the world! I feel fortunate to teach at a time when there is so much information right at our fingertips and so many new approaches to teaching.”
People with mass communications, journalism, marketing and public relations degrees who are well-grounded in English grammar and expository writing might consider teaching as an alternate career choice. These professionals, perhaps enticed by a standard workweek and two-month summer vacations, need to become certified before entering the education field. After graduating from teaching certification programs, these new English teachers are mentored by an experienced teacher until they earn full certification.

Postsecondary English teachers teach in lecture halls, medium-size classrooms and even online. They specialize in literature and writing and often focus on teaching tomorrow’s English teachers, who earn credentials to teach K-6, intermediate-level or high school students. College English teachers frequently serve as role models for English majors who also aspire to become teachers.

If your child has already been approved for special education services in their school, a dedicated tutor from the company can work with both you and the school to support your student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP). It also offers tutoring designed to help children (and their parents) who are homeschooled – the tutors can either work with your current curriculum or provide you with complete lesson plans tailored to your child.
I am looking for flexible, free-lance editing positions from home. I have a BA (Edinburgh) and also two years tertiary French from the University of NSW. I have taught French and English and also completed a section of ESL (English as a second language). I also completed a year’s secretarial course in Edinburgh. Therefore, the positions that I am seeking are in Australia, particularly remote areas of Victoria. Can you help me? Many thanks
“When I resigned as Director of the Heritage Project, I faced a choice: whether to go back into school administration or back into the classroom. The only job I ended up applying for is the teaching job I have now. I love spending my time thinking about the things that really matter by re-reading great literature daily, and it’s impossible not to love young people. Trying to show them the best ways into life — what else is there?”

I mainly reviewed important general chem topics that pertain to organic chemistry that I will have to take in sophomore year of college and Dr.H has done a nice job teaching and relating critical general chem topics to organic chemistry. He gave a lot of organic chemistry examples as it relate to general chem topics being covered as well as providing practical applications of some of the topics. Dr.H was always punctual and has been a reliable teacher.
Many business owners don’t have the time to make consistent updates to their social media profiles, or to respond promptly to customer requests made via social media. That’s why so many businesses today are looking to hire social media managers. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, a 10 percent job growth rate is expected for social media marketing managers between 2016 and 2026.

How to Get It: Begin with sites like UserTesting.com, YouEye.com and Userlytics.com. Register with multiple companies for opportunities to test as many websites as possible. Once you're in the system, you'll be emailed when testers are needed, and if you're one of the first to respond, expect to spend 15 to 20 minutes completing the test. Many sites require a microphone and/or webcam, which are built into most laptops—but if you need to buy one, they aren't expensive. The tester sites typically pay within a week or two via PayPal.
A state-issued teaching certificate or license is generally required to become a high school teacher. However, some private schools do not indicate a teaching credential as a job prerequisite. Specific certification and licensing requirements for high school teachers vary among the states. Teachers are usually required to take professional development courses as a condition of certification.

We wanted my daughter to enjoy learning chemistry and to think of her career in chemistry or chemistry-related area. In her first semester of chemistry class, she was doing well and she had confidence in her chemistry. But my daughter was having difficulties in her 2nd semester chemistry class. We could see that she was losing interest in chemistry and about to give it up. We wanted to find someone who can help her re-ignite her interest in chemistry.
From my own experience, I’ve used Textbroker to make quick cash for bills. They pay every week on Fridays and if you work a lot every day, you can usually have a substantial amount accumulated by the end of the week — definitely more than the $10 cash out threshold. The only bad thing there is you never know how much work they’ll have up to grab from the order board. But I would say that for me Textbroker has been an excellent source for getting bill money together when I need it quick. Amazon Mturk is another idea. You can cash out there at just $1 and it transfers to your bank account. There is an entire sub-forum about Mturk over at the Work Place Like Home forum where people discuss the best tasks to accept to make the most money. Mturk has a reputation for being just an extra money option, but I know for a fact there are some people making more than just extra money over there.
Hi, Lisa! I’m sorry to hear that you were not finding jobs that matched with your skills and flexibility preferences. We do list entry level to an executive level position on our site, but it is up the employer to determine what qualifications they will accept. I have issued a refund to your account, per our Satisfaction Guarantee and certainly wish you the best in your job search! All the best to you.
Successful tutoring takes time. Just like you wouldn’t expect to learn an entire year’s worth of knowledge in the first few weeks of school, you also can’t expect to raise your grades from a “D” to an “A” after only a few tutoring sessions. It’s important to set realistic expectations before you start so you don’t get discouraged or frustrated along the way.

Now selling textbooks for fellow students is another story. You can easily make some extra money from each textbook sold (you set a percentage or set fee per book). As time allows, you can even scout online book prices and buy/sell during the prime textbook season (before the start of each new semester). You don’t have to limit yourself to locally supplied textbooks in this case.
They will take into account the way your child learns, what the teacher is asking of them and what their struggles are in the class. From there your tutor has the perfect recipe to create a plan that will equal your student's success. This type of attention is implausible in the typical classroom setting as there are several other students who all have their own concerns with the materials. To be in college taking your first chemistry class is going to be challenging. This is because of the transition period that exists with subject material such as chemistry. Things are going to heat up quite a bit and you are going to need to be prepared. If you really want to succeed in this class then you need to work with one of our tutors. They have all been in college and know what it is like dealing with chemistry.
How to Get It: Sylvan Learning (Tutoring.SylvanLearning.com), Tutor.com, TutorVista.com and Tutorzilla (Tutorzilla.com) all offer a good cross section of the kinds of remote-based tutoring jobs out there, and they all have great reputations with students and teachers. Since you will be working with children, you can expect a background check before you are hired.
Be licensed and certified to teach in their state by fulfilling state-mandated requirements, such as passing specific tests and paying applicable fees. For example, elementary school teachers in Michigan are required to pass the Basic Skills Test: MTTC Professional Readiness Requirement (which consists of three parts in Reading, Math and Writing), as well as the Elementary Education test and any other corresponding subject-area tests.
Do not expect your students to be English majors. Understand that they don't all share the love of reading and writing and all things literary. If you understand that; if you meet them where THEY are (not where you expect or want them to be); if you are flexible with your time and your resources; and if the curriculum is not always the stuff the kids NEED to know, you'll be just fine. Also, keep granola bars in your desk drawer for the kids who didn't get breakfast (or for when you forget your lunch on the kitchen counter), let students stand up and move around a lot - literature is really, really boring for some (I know, weird, right?), and even honors students can try your patience daily.
Depending on the program, the age of the children you will be working with and the responsibilities may vary. Just keep in mind that the students are central and the main objective is to expose them to the English language in a fun way. The teaching and education method in schools is usually of less importance as long as the children enjoy the process and are getting exposed to the English language. Some schools will provide the necessary training upon starting your volunteer placement. If you have a way with children, you're creative and excited about inventing innovative ways to entertain them, then don't hesitate to teach English abroad because these projects are waiting for people like you!
Unlike many other online ESL programs for kids, EF students engage in a blended learning approach. All of our online students take lessons at one of our physical schools in China (over 300 and counting!). This combined in-school and online method provides young learner with the benefits and excitement of group learning with the much-needed encouragement and practice of one-on-one online lessons.

Throughout the Thinkster tutoring program, students are tested on the same concepts in a variety of contexts to ensure that they not only have proficiency but also mastery of the material they have learned. This prevents the “parroting effect” that can happen when students just memorize procedures and processes to solve problems without understanding the underlying foundational concepts.

If your native language is not English, you must submit a score of at least 550 on the paper administered test, 80 on the internet-based version, or 213 on the computer-based version on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), unless a degree has been obtained from an accredited United States institution. Additional information regarding the exams can be found at teofl.org or ielts.org.
I recently began working on my first online course and bought this to get some insight. However, I found it very disappointing. When you begin submitting material to Udemy you are paired with an advisor/judge who will approve or decline your course material for content, sound, and video quality. Most of what Phil Ebiner mentions here I learned from my Udemy administrator. So, once you begin you will get most of what he shares here for FREE and with much greater detail.

Broaden your search this way and you may also find a state college right down the road that's looking to hire online instructors!
High school English teachers are responsible for covering more specific and in-depth subjects than their middle school colleagues. In ninth grade, English teachers continue to focus on grammar rules, sentence structure and expository writing techniques. They also introduce students to sophisticated reading materials and more expansive writing assignments, like research papers.
