I am recent high school graduate and attend St. Edward's University, making me well knowledgeable of the situations students currently face. I love to help people learn topics well, and not just for passing a test. I am still a child at heart, am fairly well grounded in my life and future plans, and love to help people find help in their various struggles. I am currently a freshman studying for my Bachelor's of Arts in Psychology to be applied towards becoming a therapist. Like the other companies in our review, SpecialEdTutoring.com offers one-on-one online instruction in a virtual classroom setting using all of the latest digital tools. However, all of its curriculum is tailored specifically to the needs of students with learning disabilities, and all of its tutors hold degrees in Special Education. It’s the only online service we saw that’s dedicated entirely to special needs tutoring.
But if you use any other sites, then you should be prepared to know how to protect yourself. Listings can be ripe with scams and savvy scammers know how much people desire to work from home. They impersonate potential bosses, recruiters, and hiring managers in order to scam job seekers out of personal financial information—and in the worst-case scenario, their life savings. If you’re not using FlexJobs for your job search, or you’re supplementing with other sites, use these tips to keep yourself safe on other job boards.
Fay — I have a few posts up that list ways to get fast cash, but if you’re looking for bill money, those might not help much because the things I listed there are mostly good for gas money, pizza money, etc. Just a little extra. I know that with the phone positions there’s often a few weeks or more worth of wait time while you’re getting a background check done, training, and so forth. The sales positions (things like Helios, which has actually received negative feedback lately from some of my readers) could probably have you up and working and making money quickly. I do have a post on this blog covering Helios. But not everyone likes sales, so that may not be the route you’d want to take.
Just as with live classrooms, you’ll want to know how many students you’ll be teaching, as it will affect the types of lessons and assessments you’ll conduct. For example, short answer or essay tests may be challenging to grade with large classes, but technology can make things like multiple choice exams even easier to grade than in a brick-and-mortar classroom.
Curiosity is great for learning about the world – and when you make your curiosity into work, you get to call it research and charge a fee! If you enjoy just researching and learning new things, you can find remote jobs that will pay you to either do research and compile data or answer specific questions their clients have. You can do general research or get hyper-specific – for example, in the right location, you could become a court researcher.

'Module 1: Why is Online Teaching Important' is about understanding where you are in the current educational landscape, and determining where you want to be. We will explore why online teaching is relevant to your teaching practice, and you’ll have an opportunity to reflect upon the opportunities and challenges you face in your own context. 'Module 2: Open and Institutionally Supported Technologies' focuses on helping you understand the benefits and restrictions of both broad categories of technologies. We’re all familiar with different social media technologies, and many of us will be aware of larger institutional online learning systems. In this module we will ask you to think about the reasons why you might want to use freely available online tools for your teaching - or your institution's learning management system. Important considerations such as which types of technologies are suitable for a range of different activities will also be explored.
Mix one chemistry tutor with one struggling student and what do you get? Success! Tutoring from someone who fits your learning and who knows what your educational needs are can make all the difference in the world for a student. To find that perfect tutor though, you need to create a strategy for your search, rather than just pick someone at random.
Teaching organic chemistry has been a passion of mine for the past eight years. I’m a full time independent chemistry tutor, both worldwide via Skype and locally in Western Massachusetts. In addition to helping hundreds of students all over the world, I have also helped many local students at schools like UMass, Amherst College, Smith College, Mt Holyoke, STCC, HCC, Westfield State, Bay Path, Elms College, AIC and Western New England University.
The time that it takes to complete the process varies from state to state. It can also vary depending on the time of the year. Some states have a shorter window for processing during the off-season when they aren’t as busy. One way to streamline the process is to know how soon you can accomplish each step in the licensing process. For instance, it may take weeks for a completed background check. This may be something to complete as soon as you are able to. Sending for official transcripts and test scores as soon as they are available will also save you time.
Most reports do not make a distinction between online and offline teachers in employment outlook and salary data; however, the median annual salary for high school teachers is just over $55,000. Statistics indicate that the growth of these positions is slower than average at just 6 percent. The median salary for post-secondary instructors is almost $69,000 a year. Growth is faster for these positions at 19 percent.
Your tutor is more than willing to work through your homework with you, but remember that your time each session is limited. If you attempt your homework ahead of your appointment, your tutor can quickly review it to identify the areas where you need help. If you wait until your session to start it together, you could end up spending the entire session working through problems that you understand before you get to the ones you don’t.
Despite living in a tech-forward world that allows us all to be interconnected entrepreneurs, jumping into the online tutoring pool with both feet can be an overwhelming task — largely due to problems potential and current online tutors are pointing out. Both tutors with online tutoring experience and those without recognize the same three hurdles preventing the industry from developing any faster: technical issues, lack of personal connection with a student, and marketing.
This course will examine interactions of language with geographic location, social status, age, ethnicity, gender, and school. Other components will be use of language in multilingual speech communities, displacement of one language by another, reasons for language changes, attitudes towards languages, and social aspects of language. This course assesses advanced critical thinking skills through scholarly reading and written analysis.
The best services require their tutors to hold valid teaching credentials — proof that they have the knowledge and skills to help you learn. If a service's tutors aren't licensed teachers, it should require them to hold some form of official certification (usually obtained through a series of reference checks, background checks, and training courses). Services that require teaching credentials scored the highest in our review, with services that require a certification scoring slightly lower.
