English teachers work in subject-specific classrooms in middle and high schools, and depending on the grade level and their educational background, may teach a class that specializes in a specific area of English education, such as composition, creative writing, or poetry. In postsecondary schools, English professors rarely teach a generalized course, and often concentrate on studies centered on a certain time period (Elizabethan-Era Literature), a particular genre (the Classics or Feminist Poetry), or specific authors or types of authors (like Shakespeare or African American Novelists).

Aside from establishing boundaries with your students and yourself (because let's be honest, this job will have you working nonstop if you let it), I would say to allow yourself to be a beginner. I am 27 and have been told I look 21, so my first semester, I was really worried about that. I cut my hair in an attempt to look older, had my students call me Ms. or Professor Brooks, and would avoid answering questions from my students about how long I'd been teaching or how old I was.
The first step in becoming an English teacher is to complete an undergraduate degree. Prospective English teachers should obtain a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree, preferably in English. They will also need to complete a teacher-training program that specializes in English Language Arts. The teacher preparation program will include courses in classroom management, teaching strategies, assessment, and differentiated instruction. Online classes have traditionally been asynchronous, meaning students engage with the course materials on their own time. But now there are programs that feature live sessions, where the teacher and students meet online for a live-streamed lecture and/or discussion. While this can be a huge advantage for students who stand to benefit from in-class discussions with other students, live lectures and real-time interactions, it can be overwhelming for a teacher who’s conducting an online class for the first time.

Though we signed on late in the year with her, Jikku jumped in and helped in all aspects. She has empathy and maturity to not weaken a child’s moral, and intelligence to teach well even though she was brought in half way through the year. Coach’s study included conversations and surveys with the tutors. An essential focus of this dialogue was to unpack why tutors weren’t planning to adopt online tutoring and why some of them were tutoring so few of their students online. Are you a great listener? Good! That and solid typing skills are the basic requirements to becoming a transcriptionist online. Generally, you should type at least 60 WPM, and you should be able to type efficiently and accurately. While listening and typing is pretty easy work out of the gate, you will likely have a set of guidelines you need to follow to the letter. I am currently pursuing a Ph. D. in Organic Chemistry, and I have completed a B. S. in Medicinal-Pharmaceutical Chemistry with a GPA of 3. 7. Before Growing Stars, my marks were pretty good, but not stellar. I wanted to get high marks and ensure easy admission into Engineering.
